Jeonbuk State has decalred 2026 as the ‘first year of fostering the AI robotics industry’ and will begin establishing a robotics industry cluster.

 

Kim Kwan-young, Governor of Jeonbuk State, held a press conference in the provincial government briefing room on the 9th and announced the “AI Robotics Industry Cluster Development Plan,”stating, “We will foster Jeonbuk as Korea’s AI robotics demonstration and commercialization hub.“

 

This plan is a strategy to respond to the global trend of accelerating industrial transformation centered on robotics and AI amid structural changes such as low birth rates, population aging, and rising production costs. The global robotics market is expected to grow threefold, from $28.2 billion in 2021 to $83.1 billion by 2030.

 

The province plans to cooperate with central government ministries to establish a ‘Robot Maintaining Parts Cluster’where free research and development and demonstration testing can take place, while providing various incentives. In connection with physical AI-based demonstration projects, it aims to maximize synergy. At the same time, centered on the Physical AI Demonstration Valley, the province will promote the designation of an AI robotics innovation and apply regulatory sandbox for demonstration projects and deregulation measures to accelerate on-site technology verification and industrial expansion.
