- Call Foreign Workers by Their Names: Jeonbuk State Launches Campaign to Respect Foreign Workers Human Rights Jeonbuk State announced on the 21st that it is recruiting participating companies until June 12th for the "Call Them by Their Names!" campaign, which provides hard hats labeled with foreign workers' names. The campaign is designed to improve the practice of addressing foreign workers with impersonal terms like "Hey" or "You" instead of their names, and to promote a culture of respecting them as colleagues and individuals. In particular, it aims to foster a workplace culture of mutual respect and human rights protection, starting with simply calling them by their names. The state expects that providing hard hats with foreign workers' names written in both their native language and Korean will naturally promote camaraderie and a culture of human rights on-site. Furthermore, using clear and proper names is anticipated to contribute to creating a safer working environment. A total of 150 KC-certified hard hats will be provided to the selected companies, with a maximum of 30 helmets per business. Labeled with the workers' names in both their native language and Korean, the hard hats are expected to honor their identity and dignity, while also facilitating smoother communication on-site. "Calling someone by their proper name is the most basic yet crucial starting point for respecting foreign workers as individuals," said Baek Kyeong-tae, Director General of the Bureau of International Communications of Jeonbuk State. "We will provide active support through this campaign to ensure that a healthy workplace culture of mutual respect spreads 2026-06-22
