On the 9th, Jeonbuk State hosted an event at the Jeonbuk Women and Family Foundation to support the settlement of marriage-immigrant women. As part of this effort, Jeonbuk State held the 'Marriage Immigrant 365 Elder Sister Mentor Group Excellent Case Presentation' to share the achievements of their mentoring activities.

 

The Jeonbuk-style mentoring program, '365 Elder Sister Mentor Group', is designed to help marriage immigrants settle stably in the region. Senior marriage immigrants (Mentors) who have acquired Korean nationality guide newly arrived marriage immigrants (Mentees) by sharing their experiences and providing essential living information, as well as offering emotional support.

 

Mentor Lee Hye-jin was selected for the top prize for her excellent case. Ms. Lee, a Vietnamese mentor, utilized her own experience of acquiring Korean nationality to provide consistent support to a mentee who had contemplated giving up the citizenship screening due to financial difficulties. This case deeply moved the attendees at the presentation. She helped the mentee succeed in obtaining nationality by meeting regularly to assist with application writing and interview preparation, alleviating the mentee's anxiety, and offering continuous encouragement and information even if the exam were to be failed.

 

Through this presentation, Jeonbuk State confirmed that the mentoring program serves as a model for co-growth, capable of transforming the quality of life for marriage immigrants, rather than just delivering information. To encourage the formation of mutual cooperation between mentors and mentees and establish lasting communities, the state intends to strengthen collaboration with local communities and reinforce expansion policies centered on capacity building for marriage immigrants.
