Jeonbuk State will expand its 'Community Assistance Centers' to address welfare blind spots.

 

Recognizing the need to provide everyday, close-contact support, the Jeonbuk-style Community Assistance Centers offer services such as grocery shopping, accompanying them to the hospital, managing civil affairs on their behalf, and providing companionship to the welfare vulnerable, including basic livelihood recipients, the elderly living alone, and single-parent households.

 

The Social Welfare Councils in each city and county are commissioned to operate the centers, and three dedicated staff members are stationed there to consistently and meticulously provide welfare services. Currently, Jeonju, Iksan, Jeongeup, Namwon, Gimje, Jinan, Muju, Jangsu, Imsil, Sunchang, Gochang, and Buan are operating the Community Assistance Centers, and Wanju is expected to join the operation in 2026.

 

These Community Assistance Centers provide practical daily support, including accompanying residents to the hospital, receiving civil affairs documents, and delivering essential goods. Furthermore, they have identified families in crisis, connecting them with 375 instances of support. They are not only providing emotional support and responding to emergency situations but are also playing a front-line role in local community care.

 

Jeonbuk State has continuously implemented this project for over 15 years, establishing it as a field-oriented welfare model that other local governments are now benchmarking. In particular, this local government's integrated care system will be established under the 'Integrated Care Support Act,' which is mandatory and set to take effect next March. Therefore, Jeonbuk State plans to strengthen its care system, based on public-private cooperation, by making the Community Assistance Centers a core infrastructure for regional care integration.
