Oh Eun Sun, the first female mountaineer ever to successfully summit all 14 eight-thousanders in Himalaya
Emphasis on positive and progressive attitude of civil servants at special lecture held in Jeonbuk provincial office
Oh Eun Sun(44), the climbing master who succeeded in reaching the summits of all 14 highest Himalayan 8,000 meter peaks for the first time in the world kept praising an idea contest, "living policy going with provincial people" Jeollabukdo is working on at a lecture titled "challenge & passion" held in Jeonbuk provincial office on 13th of last month. She also said, "It is a fairy fresh idea to reflect good ideas from ordinary people who love hometown on provincial policies, avoiding unilateral bureaucracy" "policies to be harmonized in daily lives of people are so powerful as to overcome anything and I think my life has been full of that kind of power."
She hoped and expected for the future of her hometown, Jeonbuk, saying "policies will not be materialized as tangible results right after executed, but if the province makes efforts in the aggressive way, it will grow up an energetic world class one."
" Take a goal and try not to focus only on summit"
The climber, Oh said, "I feel emotionally calm when seeing small and simple mountains in Jeonbuk, because I have long been accustomed to highest peaks in Himalaya, adding "the great cultural and historical assets of Jeonbuk which has been accumulated for a thousand year will be a world class tourist product."
She added, "set a goal, but try not to focus only on summit and to get steady slow. A way of step-by-step challenging will surely make you reach the goal." "Think about one 155cm high small girl who succeeded in reaching the summit of Himalya. There is not anything impossible to do when you get confident about yourself." At the special lecture where one thousand of civil servants, including governor Kin Wan-Ju, she told her story as a climber, "even though the climbing is always between life and death, going for the dream guided me to the high mountains and happy and joyous memories have been left after completing the hard courses."
Asked "What is your decision when your kids want to be a climber like you?" from one of government employees, she replied "first, I try to persuade my kid to give up climbing because I know climbing is one of extremely hard things, but if the kid insist on doing like me I will respect his/her will."
At the end of special lecture, she showed her longing for hometown saying "I'm still missing a small hill in my hometown, Namwon where I played in childhood and if I get the opportunity to climb Moaksan mountain I want to do with you together."
