"Jeonbuk State, in collaboration with the Qingdao and Jeonbuk offices of the Korea Tourism Organization, is launching stayover tour packages utilizing the Gunsan Port Shidao Ferry to expand the attraction of Chinese tourists."

The state announced on the 3rd that, starting with the arrival of 110 Chinese tourists via the Gunsan Port International Passenger Terminal, it plans to attract 1,200 Chinese tourists by operating tour packages that connect major regional attractions, including Gunsan, Jeonju, Wanju, and Namwon.

This tour package was designed to leverage the maritime transportation network of Gunsan Port—the state's only international tourism gateway to China—to boost visits and multi-day stays by Chinese tourists, thereby driving local spending in areas such as accommodation, dining, sightseeing, and experiences.

The state and the Korea Tourism Organization also held a welcoming event at the Gunsan Port International Passenger Terminal to mark the arrival of the first group of tourists that day. They greeted the visitors by presenting bouquets to the travel delegation, taking commemorative photos, and providing souvenirs along with promotional materials on Jeonbuk tourism.

To extend tourists' stays within the region, the state provides financial support for entry and exit costs associated with tour packages utilizing the Gunsan Port Shidao Ferry. In addition, it plans to enhance the competitiveness of these products by combining KTO support for inbound tours with Namwon City's subsidies for activity fees.

Gunsan Port is the state's only international tourism gateway connecting China and Jeonbuk,” said Son Mi-jung, head of the Tourism Industry Division at Jeonbuk State. “We will continue to develop stayover packages that link the Shidao Ferry with Jeonbuk’s diverse tourism assets, striving to attract more Chinese tourists and revitalize local tourism.
