The Jeonbuk State Fire Headquarters (Chief Jin Hyeong-min) announced on the 12th that it is carrying out tailored fire safety consulting centered on farmstead accommodations to create a safe working and living environment for foreign seasonal workers.

 

The Jeonbuk State Fire Headquarters stated that the consulting program is designed to identify fire hazards in advance and enhance safety management standards for foreign seasonal worker accommodations. Running through August 31, the initiative targets 1,851 housing facilities across the province, comprising 29 public accommodation units and 1,822 farmstead housing units.

 

Rather than merely pointing out issues requiring improvement, fire officials provide on-site guidance tailored to the specific conditions of accommodations such as ▲ Single-station smoke alarms, ▲ Provision of fire extinguishers, ▲ Electrical appliances and power outlets, ▲ Gas valves and piping, ▲ Living environment features, including locks, ▲ Indoor smoking status, and ▲ Actual conditions of heating and cooling equipment usage.

 

The organization also plans to strengthen cooperative systems with relevant agencies by collaborating with the Agricultural and Bio-Life Policy Division to share information on fire-hazard targets and linking it with fire safety inspections when necessary.

 

Jin Hyeong-min, Chief of the Jeonbuk State Fire Headquarters, stated, "In farmhouse accommodations where foreign seasonal workers reside, initial response and prompt evacuation are paramount in the event of a fire." He added, "Moving forward, we will actively leverage the expertise and field experience of retired firefighters to expand customized, practical safety consulting focused on farmhouse housing, and do our utmost to create a safe environment where both foreign workers and local residents can feel secure."
