Jeonbuk State announced on July 7 that it was selected as the ‘Wide-area Visa Pilot Project’ by the Ministry of Justice to attract foreign students and revitalize he local industry.
The ‘Wide-area Visa Pilot Project’ is a project that the Ministry of Justice approves when designing customized visa requirements that meet local characteristics in the region itself.
Jeonbuk designed visa requirements by contributing to the development of specialized industries and choosing an international student visa as a way to save local universities. It focused on fostering the life industry and promoting the conversion industry, which is the core strategy of Jeonbuk, to ease the visa requirements for foreign talent who wants to study as a related major such as life service and clean energy.
First of all, the criteria for reviewing fiscal ability were greatly reduced from 16 million won to 8 million won so that foreign talents could study in Jeonbuk without any economic burden.
The working hours for international students, which were previously allowed to be between 10 to 25 hours, have been expanded to 30 hours. This will enable foreign students studying in Jeonbuk to balance their studies and work without difficulties.
In addition, foreign students will now be able to participate in internships during the semester, making it easier for them to find employment and settle down in Jeonbuk after graduation.
