Jeonbuk State has announced that it promotes settlement support and business linkages to attract 670 foreign students as the ‘Wide-area Visa Pilot Project’ is in full swing.
The wide-area visa allows students to obtain a visa and extend their stay with more relaxed requirements than the existing study visa. International students only need to prove their financial ability to pay at least KRW 8,000,000 per year to study abroad. The students who have completed TOPIK level 4 or higher or the Social Integration Program level 4 or higher and received a grade of B or higher in the previous semester are allowed to intern at companies during the semester.
In addition, international students with certain grades and basic Korean language skills can get time employment up to 30 hours during the week, and for those with excellent Korean language skills and grades, it is expanded to 35 hours during the week. On weekends and holidays, they can work on time without restrictions.
Jeonbuk State defines this pilot project not merely as an international student recruitment initiative, but as a strategic endeavor aimed at encouraging global top talent to settle in Jeonbuk. The province plans to establish a robust foundation for their settlement, which connects directly to actual employment, by promoting recruitment matching sessions, job fairs, and internship programs in collaboration with local businesses.
