Jeonbuk State speeds up the infrastructure plan for hosting the Jeonju Summer Olympics.

 

 

Kim Gwanyeong, the Governor of Jeonbuk, visited Jeonju Worldcup Stadium that the possibility of use it as the main stadium of Olympic Games is under consideration and the site of Complex Sports Town constructing at the whole place of Jangdong, Deokjingu, Jeonju in order in 28, May, inspected facilities and requested spurring the embodiment of the Olympic bid strategy.

But a point was raised that the current stadium with 35,000-seat capacity fails to meet the Olympic standards. Additionally, the need for a comprehensive overhaul was also discussed together regarding over-20-year-old facilities.

 

Jeonju Complex Sports Town the next place they visited is a large-scale sports infrastructure to be built over 8 years from 2026 to 2033 by injecting total KRW 684.3 billion, drawing attention as a key competitive edge in hosting the Jeonju Olympic Games. track and field stadium, baseball field, indoor gymnasium, international swimming pool, sports value center, outdoor sports facilities, parking lots and others will be entered gradually in the total area of the site 647,000㎡.

 

 

The construction process of the track and field stadium and the baseball field is currently about 40% complete, indoor gymnasium 10% as the construction began this year. The construction of international swimming pool, sports value center, outdoor sports facilities are scheduled to begin in future, Underground/surface parking lots for the visitor convenience will also be constructed in the area where 1,500 persons can use from 2029.

 

 

Governor, Kim, Gwanyeong said, “I will devise feasible improvement measures after analyzing our situation cooly.”, emphasizing that the Complex Sports Town needs to be carried out successfully through joining our province and cities’ forces as it is a key asset to enhance competitiveness in hosting the Olympic Games.

 

 

On one hand, Jeonbuk State plans to maximize a possibility of attracting the Jeonju Summer Olympics through creating a tailored facility upgrade plan for each stadium, deriving a stadium layout draft on the basis of the result of this field investigation.
