Jeonbuk State embarked on the validation of feasibility regarding to attracting the Olympic Games in earnest after holding a commissioning meeting of the pre-study-of feasibility service regarding to the Jeonju Summer Olympics in the provincial office video conference room.

 

 

 

This study of feasibility will progress until ;upcoming September for 6 months, centered on the bidding environment analysis, the review of the basic plan of the event, the analysis on economic feasibility and policy feasibility with an eye to attracting the Summer Olympic Games to Jeonju in Jeonbuk.

 

 

 

Korea Sports Science Institute, Korea’s top-tier sports research and analysis institution, became in charge of this pre-study of feasibility. As Korea Sports Science Institute has been playing a central role in analyzing many large-scale sports events and making policies in the meantime, precise and reliable results regarding to feasibility and adequacy of attracting the Jeonbuk Olympic Games are expected.

 

 

 

Main points include an analysis of past Olympic Games hosting cases, an analysis of Jeonbuk’s attraction environment and infrastructure, public opinion poll and an analysis of competitor cities’ trends, an analysis of policy, economic feasibility and effect, and others.

 

 

 

At this kick-off meeting, along with putting emphasis on the great importance of a plan for reusing existing stadiums through the regional city alliance for the purpose of reducing cost to secure economic feasibility and on public opinion of local residents, measures for this have been discussed in depth.

 

 

 

Jeonbuk State has a policy to present a model of low-cost, high-efficiency and sustainable Olympic Games through the intercity regional cooperation strategy while securing economics and the policy justification through this feasibility study service.

 

 

 

Jeonbuk State officials told that they would make it possible to get approval of attracting international events from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism after actively highlighting that the successful hosting events is possible without an excessive investment to infrastructure through operating a regional decentralized event.
