Jeonbuk and Jeonju held the Provincial Unity Festival to hope for winning the bid for the 2036 Jeonju Summer Olympic Games with great success at Jeonbuk Provincial Office Grand Concert Hall on the 12th of this month.

This event was a significant gathering where congratulated that Jeonju of Jeonbuk had been selected as the domestic candidate city of the 2036 Summer Olympic Games at Korean Sports and Olympic Committee (KOC) Annual General Assembly on the last 28, February while declaring a strong will inside and outside to successfully win the bid of the Summer Olympic Games in future after Jeonbuk goes forth into the world.

On this festival, more than 1,000 persons such as main important persons including Governor Kim, Gwanyeong, Jeonbuk Provincial Assembly Speaker, Moon, Seungwoo, the Mayor of Jeonju, Woo, Beomgi, City Chairman of Jeonju, Nam, Gwanwoo, President of the Jeonbuk Sports Association, Jeong, Gangseon, Superintendent of Jeonbuk Office of Education and others, residents of Jeonbuk, athletes, press contacts and others participated and made a resolution to win the bid of the Olympic Games with one heart.

The Provincial Unity Festival has begun with a magnificent celebration performance of Jeonju Municipal Art Group and a vision for the future Olympic Games of which Jeonbuk dreams was shared through the promotional video clip of the Olympic Games. The welcome address and congratulatory speeches by principal guests including the Governor and the Mayor of Jeonju followed each other, and then the common ground of the necessity and possibility of attracting the 2036 Jeonju Olympic Games was expanded.

In particular, Governor Kim Gwanyeong made a presentation of Olympic bid roadmap personally, telling that he would form a dedicated task force quickly and fulfill domestic and international procedures for the purpose of winning in full-scale international competition where the mountain to climb will be high and rugged in future.

Then, he declared that he would leap forward powerfully towards the world while being broadly interacting with the International Olympic Commitee(IOC) including the international sports community.

The best part of the event was a performance of a resolution to bid for the Olympics which did with residents together. Participants showed off a performance which symbolizes a differentiated value of the Jeonju Olympic Games, that is, the culture Olympics, the eco-friendly Olympics or the regional cities Olympic collaboration, projecting an air of confidence even in competition with world cities.

At the end, residents sang a song, “Hand in hand”, continuing the passion to yearn for the successful Olympic bid.

Jeonbuk selected as a candidate region in South Korea takes on a new challenge to compete with various countries in the world beyond South Korea now.

Jeonbuk aims for leaving its groundbreaking footprints in the world sports history by use of culture, eco-friendly and regional alliance of cities which are Jeonbuk’s unique and differentiated value as its main weapon after reaffirming residents’ burning desire to host the Olympic Games through this festival.

Especially, Jeonbuk is planning to focus administrative resources on gathering the bipartisan support in politics and public interest as it thinks that the Olympic Games require establishing a rapid response system of the whole-of-government level and a full support for the reason that the Olympic Games are a national-level event.

The Mayor of Jeonju, Woo, Beomgi, said, “Attracting the 2036 Olympic Games to Jeonju will be both a historical opportunity for the global leap and the beginning of a drama which proves Jeonju, the most traditional city to the world.”, emphasizing that he will make miracles happen together so that world sports persons’ screaming of joy can resonate through riding uninterrupted stream flow of Mangyeong river from Wanju and Jeonju which became one.

The Mayor of Jeonbuk, Kim, Gwanyeong, said, “I will be sure to secure the hosting of the Jeonju Olympic Games which can raise the standing of the nation as well as of the city and be a foundation of national unity, emphasizing that the 2036 Jeonju Olympic is a once-in-a-lifetime big event by which the future of Jeonbuk and Korea will change.
