Vessel Launching Ceremony for Offshore Wind New-concept Offshore Installation

On July 7th, at the Sixth Dock (Gunsan Container Terminal; GCT) of Gunsan Harbour, Jeollabuk-do held a launching ceremony of Offshore Wind Multi-purpose Mobile Base System (MMB) for the first time, where concerned persons participated such as U Beomgi deputy governor for political affairs, Jeong Seunggi Chief of Korean Electric Power Corporation etc.

Offshore wind MMB was constructed with a total expense of 34 billion won by Korean Electric Research Institute for 60 months (August, 2016~July, 2021). Economic feasibility is excellent because when an engineer applies wind generator (5MW/1 generator), the engineer can reduce 3.7 billion won and 80 days engineering period.

Jeollabuk-do will develop into a center for offshore wind by innovative base of offshore wind industry from the starting point of offshore wind multi-purpose mobile base system vessel.

In addition, in order to research soffshore wind and develop technology, Jeollabuk-do will construct systemic cooperation with concerned organizations, expand support, and create added value through activating wind industry in Jeonbuk district.
