The Presidential Committee on Balanced National Development and 4 Ministries including Ministry of strategy and finance, Ministry of Land, transport and Maritime affairs, Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Ministry of Public administration and security, had decide to develop the Saemangeum as a Dubai of northeast Asia at the meeting of regional development strategy promotional planing report under the President Lee Myeong Park on last 21th.
The government said this project will be completed in 2020 by pushing ten years ahead for promoting Saemangeum as Dubai of northeast Asia.

Project period push 10 years ahead, finishing touches in 2020
Ministry of Land, transport and Maritime affairs is to push the project period ahead in the first place and deicide on overall plan within this year.
Saemangeum reclamation project area will be developed as Dubai of Northeast Asia and World Economy Free City for a long term aim.
For this, pushing Project period ahead from original 2030 to 2020 and planing to expedite available area including industrial land in Gunsan and tourist land in Buan. Not only through carrying out feasibility study on plan to built international airport through enlarging the new port and Gunsan airport but also providing economical industrial land by land preparation cost cuts.
Connecting with surrounding area, the government is planing to develop this area as a growing zone to be a center of international product and trade, marine tourist, food industry.

Saemangeum new port, Creating base port connecting to the world
Government is moving forward with plan for Saemangeum overall project on this within this year and make a modification in existing Saemangeum special law.
For this, Ministry of Land, transport and Maritime affairs is building a global state- of -the -art science study environment and developing trade expanding business model. besides, they have decided to make International science business complex which can connect between research facility and connecting city by getting transportation infrastructure and Information infrastructure

Metropolitan transportation infrastructure will be completed that make a quick commute between great-sphere zones for 2-3 hours and between base city and surrounding area for 1 hour in order to support good inter-relationship among the
great-sphere economy zones.
Reinforcing international network connect between great-sphere economy zone and northeast asia and world, they also plan to develop regional airport depending on each area's growing strategy. and 6 ports including Incheon port, Pyeongtaek.Dangjin port, Saemangeum new port, Ulsan port, Samcheok port will be developed as a based port as well.
