Surprising Saemangeum in eyes of the US Ambassador
Kathleen Stephens, the U.S. ambassador exclaimed "Wonderful" at Saemangeum's gigantic sight and promised support in launching international line in Gunsan Airport
The ambassador visited Saemangeum, a site of great history on 19th Feb., and looked around for one hour, and she expressed the magnificent image she got of Saemangeum in a clear Korean language, saying "Seeing is a believing" and "Saemangeum is Great Wall of Korea" to make visitors around surprised.
Further, she repeated so many praises for Saemangeum, such as "great", "wonderful", "fantastic", and "really happy to come here" in a mixed words of Korean and English, to staffs of the U.S. embassy accompanying her.
The ambassador wrote down, "I sincerely wish the great vision comes true." in a guest book. Furthermore, the ambassador saying "a lot of people will visit here if the great sea wall opens." and "I won't spare any effort in not only inviting U.S. investments but also launching international line in Gunsan Airport which is requested by Jeollabukdo.
Paying a visit to GM Daewoo, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and wind power factory
The ambassador and his party paid a visit to GM Daewoo, Hyundai Heavy Industries, and wind turbine factory located in GunJang National Industrial Complex consecutively in the afternoon after completing calling on Saemangeum.
In a visit to GM Daewoo, she showed a keen interest in the present status of Gunsan factory, while carefully observing the production line of "Lacetti Premium" after having a dinner with its executives.
She also called on wind turbine plant of Hyundai Heavy Industries which presently works on manufacturing six(6) units of wind turbines ordered from "Wave Wind", one of companies in U.S. and observed the manufacturing process for one hour.
The ambassador paid a visit to Gunsan municipal office and talked with the mayor of Gunsan and then left for Seoul after completing Jeonbuk visit schedule for one night two days.
