Holding "Saemangeum flags festival" commemorating the opening of sea wall
“Green hope's flags" symbolizing our hope and better understanding are going to fly over Saemangeum. "Saemangeum flags festival" commemorating the opening of sea wall on the coming April. The event will be performed in the Saemangeum area, centering on a plaza of Sinsido island, for 10 days starting from 23th, April.
"Saemangeum flag festival 2010" will get more abundant as 200 exhibition authors participate in it and display more various art collections and actual experiencing events, which will play a key role in announcing the luxury city, Saemangeum over the world.
The flag festival based on the theme, "hope, desire, and communication" will feature events comprising local specialties display and local genuine foods experiencing time, including flag art exhibition, world flags performance, and Taegeukgi(Korean national flag) special exhibition.
Furthermore, a variety of special events such as Saemangeum marathon competition and walking race, traditional kite flying competition, and fire works will be offered through partnership among Gimje-si, Gunsan-si, and Buan-gun.
A professor of The Korean National University of Arts, Jeon Su-Cheon who is also a member of executive committee charging in the flag festival said, "the festival took a flag as its theme to feature ideal, symbol, and space and it will be a good opportunity to spread the genuine image of luxury city, Saemangeum across the world, not limited to the domestic."
"Flags" contribute to painting Saemangeum as a source of restoration, hope and wish and this flag festival is pretty significant in playing a key role to evoke people's hope and mutual better understanding.
