Hyundai Heavy Industries held a launching ceremony of two bulk carriers at Gunsan dockyard.
Hyundai Gunsan shipyard held a launching ceremony of the two first-built bulk carriers at 18th, Dec., 2009 and fully opened the era of West sea's shipbuilding hub.
The two launched bulk carriers, proud of its gigantic size(LOA/292m, Breath/45m, Depth/24.7m) and 15.3 knot's maximum speed, are ordered by Nordcapital Group and surprisingly, its one chain link is almost as pretty high as an ordinary adult.
Gunsan shipyard equipped with world's biggest Goliath Crane
The Hyundai Gunsan shipyard set off on a great voyage to Northeast Asia with the launching ceremony as a starting point. The Gunsan shipyard which was constructed in a site of 1,800,000㎡(equivalent to 540,000 p'yong) in GunJang national industrial complex located Soryong-dong, Gunsan-si on May, 2008 have come to keep dockyards and production facilities at the last July and run into a full-scaled shipbuilding works.
The gigantic shipyard, constructed with total project expenses of 1.2 trillion won, is proud of its mammoth scale such as one(1) million tons dockyard, capable of building four(4) 200,000 ton class vessel at one time and the world's biggest 1,650 ton goliath crane.
The dockyard is the world's biggest size to be as large as combined seven soccer grounds and the goliath crane was also constructed in the world's biggest scale, capable of lifting 400 cars.
Hyundai Heavy Industries has a plan to build 20 large vessels every year from the next one and to generate annual sales of 3 trillion won, and further Hyundai has already received orders of 20 motor tankers and vessels.
The Gunsan shipyard's launching ceremony must be recognized as a something more than an event with a full-dress opening of Saemangeum coming soon and the Gunsan shipyard is prospected to grow up to the best shipbuilding base in Northeast Asia with Saemangeum as a strong supporter.
