Printed electronics accumulated complex, specializing in producing "printed electronics getting spotlight as a future promising new technology in fields of semiconductors and displays, is going to be developed in Jeonju.
The eight(8) printed electronics related companies, including DONGWOO FINE-CHEM has reached a general agreement to conduct joint R&D activities and to establish its mass production facilities.
Enterprises such as IMAGEN KOREA, LGS(Jeonbuk), SNU PRECISION, WITHEL(Seoul), CEMS(Gyeunggi), PHIL-CHEM, and MS. BAR TECHNOLOGY(Choongnam), participate in the R&D project and they plan to invest 40.4 billion won and hire 260 employees.
The printed electronics, as a new processing technology, is characterized in mixing/grafting nanotechnology onto a conventional printing technique and manufacturing electronic circuits, devices, and components in such a manner of printing ordinary paper things, and it is recognized as a future-oriented growth platform industry and its world market size is estimated to grow up to 300 trillion won in 2025.
R&D center and 61 related machineries, including conductive-ink testing equipments, have been prepared in advance by putting in 74.5 billions won to develop the printed electronics accumulated complex, centering on NNPEC(National Nano Printed Electronics Center) located at Palbok-dong, Deokjin-gu, Jeonju-si.
The business circles have a plan to invite 60 enterprises to the complex until 2017 and expect they will produce 3 trillions won's added value.
