Ceremonial ground-breaking for "Saemangeum gateway" as Northeast Asia's tourism hub
For Saemangeum tourist complex born as Northeast Asia's tourism hub together with Saemangeum industrial zone, "the ground-breaking ceremony of Saemangeum gateway tourist complex project" will be held at 11:00 am 10th, Dec., around Saemangeum sea wall-No.1 located at Byeonsan-myeon, Buan-gun, Jeonbuk, Korea.
To celebrate the ceremony, some dignitaries including Choi Gyeong-hwan/Minister of Knowledge Economy and other central government officials, members of Saemangeum committee(Gang Hyeon-Wook/Chairperson of the committee), and residents will attend the event.
In the midst of hectic schedule to celebrate the full opening of Saemangeum sea wall within one month, the Saemangeum committee is going to embark on a full-scale development of tourist complex, beginning with "Gateway project" at the coming 10th Dec., 2009.
The gateway project is aimed at providing Saemangeum visitors with utility and other convenient facilities which will be developed around Saemangeum No.1 sea wall as the main gate.
The Saemangeum gateway tourist complex will be invested about 874.1 billions won(￦) to develop a tourist site measured 990,000㎡ around Saemangeum and Dongjin river and to construct tourist facilities & complex, including golf course(90 holes), tourist theme park, hotels, and condos.
The gateway tourist complex, centering on "Human", "Nature", and "Experience", will be developed into three major zones which are completely equipped with integral facilities & systems to cover general activities regarding ecology, commerce, and ocean experiences, until 2017.
The ground-breaking ceremony will be celebrated with a variety of celebration events like traditional Gilnori(road performance) wishing for the project success at beginning and further a commemorative ceremony, congratulatory message of Choi Gyeong-Hwan, the Minister of Knowledge Economy, recitation of Saemangeum celebration poem and report on proceedings, and showing a moving picture on the Saemangeum tourist complex. Moreover, water rockets and 3,300 balloons symbolizing the Saemangeum sea wall(3,300 meters) will soar into the air at the same time as a button is ignited to announce the project commencement and visitors will enjoy their most exciting time with dump truck parade followed.
