On December 12th, Jeonbuk State and Jeonju-si signed a business agreement at Jeolla Office regarding mutual cooperation for the construction of 「the Jeonju Exhibition and Convention Center」.

 

The agreement states that Jeonbuk State and Jeonju-si will actively cooperate △ to establish a mutual cooperation system for the construction and operation of an exhibition and convention center, △ to provide financial support for the construction of the exhibition and convention center, △ to assist with administrative procedures, and △ to develop measures to revitalize the MICE industry in Jeonbuk.

 

The Jeonju Exhibition and Convention Center will be built on the site of the current Jeonju General Stadium, with a total area of 80,000㎡, It will include △ a 10,000㎡ exhibition hall, △ a great conference room that can accommodate more than 2000 people, and small and medium-sized 20 rooms. A 10,000 ㎡ multi-purpose square will also be created outside the building. Approximately KRW 300 billion will be committed to this project.

 

When the Jeonju Exhibition and Convention Center is completed, it is expected to increase the status of the Jeonbuk MICE industry by establishing it as not only a public institution in Jeonbuk Innovation City, but also as a venue for various events in 14 cities and counties in the city, and as a wide-area base facility for attracting large-scale domestic and foreign events.

 

Furthermore, Jeonbuk State is expected to be a stepping stone for Jeonbuk State and Jeonju-si to advance to the international conference city because MICE event demands the long stay period, brings about a large consumption expenditure, and has a high employment and employment inducement effect.
