Jeonbuk State has announced the expansion of its "Postpartum and Newborn Health Care Support Program" to alleviate the financial burden on families with newborns and provide more systematic postpartum care support.
The "Maternal and Newborn Health Care Support Project" is a government-supported voucher service for which trained maternal and newborn health care providers visit postpartum families to assist with maternal recovery and newborn care.
As the standards have been relaxed to allow even one's mother to work as a health caregiver after completing a certain training program, the family-centered care environment is expected to become more active.
The target beneficiaries include: ▲ families giving birth who are recipients of livelihood, medical, housing, and educational benefits, as well as those from the lower-income bracket, and ▲ families giving birth whose health insurance premium payments are below 150% of the median income. Additionally, support is available for ▲ mothers with rare and intractable diseases, ▲ disabled mothers and disabled newborns, ▲ families with multiple births (twins or more), ▲ immigrant mothers, and ▲ single mothers, even if they exceed the income criteria. Starting this year, families with premature infants are also included in the support group.
Applications for the service can be made at the public health center in your jurisdiction from 40 days before the expected date of birth to 60 days after the date of birth, and online applications can also be made through ‘Bokjiro (www.bokjiro.go.kr)’.
