As a traditional pansori festival in South Korea, the long-standing domestic festival 『Jeonju World Sori Festival』is preparing the opening performance "Simcheong" in collaboration with the National Theater for its 24th edition in 2025, and is attempting new leaps and innovative changes, such as transitioning to a "summer festival" following last year.

 

The Sori Festival, celebrating its 24th anniversary, will take place from August 13 to 17 as a summer festival, following last year's event. Under the theme ‘Echoes of the Hometown’, the festival aims to immerse audiences in the sounds of their homeland while incorporating musical elements from around the world. The opening performance, <Simcheong> will be produced in collaboration with world-class directors and the National Theater. In total, there will be 73 performances across 61 programs, featuring pansori, classical music, popular music, and international acts, said the person concerned on Sori Festival. .

Lee Jung-seok, director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, explained, "Now it should develop into a festival in the world that is evaluated by people all over the world, beyond the festival that is evaluated by Jeonbuk," and said that all the citizens of the province should work together.
