Jeonbuk State said that through ‘the operation of the Jeonbuk Auxiliary Equipment Center and the grant of auxiliary equipment in the city and county', it is working to help people with disabilities in the province and relieve daily discomfort.
This year, the province secured a total project budget of 467 million won, and in the first half of the year, provided necessary devices to a total of 171 people with disabilities in the province (out of 397 low-income individuals) through the city and county assistance device distribution program.
The Jeonbuk Auxiliary Equipment Center provided a variety of services, including 861 cases including consultation and provision of assistive devices, 326 customized support, 82 after-sales service, and 18 education and promotion projects through an integrated support system related to auxiliary devices.
Eligible recipients are registered people with disabilities, who are supported with assistive devices such as wheelchairs, hearing aids, voice amplifiers, and braille information terminals, either free of charge or with partial co-payment. Priority is given to people with severe disabilities, low-income households, and those whose devices are aging.
Applications can be made at any time through the administrative welfare center (Eup-myeon-dong) of the applicant's registered residential address. Additionally, consultations can be simultaneously received through organizations such as the Jeonbuk Assistive Device Center.
Even after the provision of assistive devices, the program is being strengthened through follow-up inspections, education on how to use the devices, consultation on difficulties during use, and guidance on maintenance.
