Jeonbuk State held “the AI/Academic division meeting of ”All-Province Citizens’ Committee for attracting the Summer Olympic Games to Jeonju“ at Jeonbuk Provincial Office’s Conference Room 2 on the 6th, discussing Jeonju Summer Olympic bid/operation strategy based on cutting-edge technology including Artificial Inteligence(AI).

 

This meeting was the first division meeting since the start of All-Province Citizens’ Committee for attracting the Summer Olympic Games to Jeonju on this past June, 23. It was scheduled to set direction for a technical basis and the direction of cooperation to realize Jeonju Summer Olympics as the future-oriented innovation Olympics.

 

At the meeting on this day, a total of 21 people attended including directors of Research and Business Foundations at major universities in Jeonbuk such as Jeonbuk University, Gunsan University, Jeonju University, Wonkwang University, and Woosuk University, their faculties, directors of AI/scientific research institutes and others.

 

Participants shared AI technology cases utilized in recent international sporting events, offering diverse opinions on how these can be integrated into Jeonju’s bidding and hosing processes for the 2036 Summer Olympics. In particular, the discussion on practical application areas such as the game management, safety, transportation, security system and others using AI technology went on. A common ground on the direction so that the Jeonju Summer Olympics may be enhanced into “Smart Olympics” has been found.

 

In addition, they united on the necessity of technology development and talent cultivation through industry-academia-research collaboration, suggesting the formation of a technology consortium and the promotion of joint research and development as a practical cooperation plan for this.

 

2036 Summer Olympics bid team leader of Jeonbuk province, Yu, Heesuk said, “I expect that talented individuals in Jeonbuk province and advanced technological capabilities can be effectively mobilized to bid for the Olympics and successfully host through the AI/Academic division meeting.”, and “From now on, I will do my best to make Jeonju establish itself as a world-class futuristic and innovative Olympic city through having ongoing consulation and the research collaboration.

 

In the future, Jeonbuk province plans to concretize Olympic bidding strategy through various sector-specific meetings including physical education, press relations and cultural tourism, forming a national consensus while establishing a framework for government support after reflecting the wide range of opinions from residents and experts.
